The Greater Manchester Offenders’ Project (GMOP) helps people who are leaving custody or approved premises to find appropriate housing and the support to ensure that they can keep it.

We operate across all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. The service is a partnership between New Charter’s Tameside Housing Advice Service and Threshold. It brings together an established advice service with an experienced provider of supported accommodation services.

Our support is targeted at three priority groups of customers:
  • Prisoners serving short sentences (less than 12 months)
  • Women offenders and those with children
  • Offenders requiring housing in a borough that is not their originating one.
The service is jointly commissioned by Supporting People teams and the Probation Trust across Greater Manchester and the North West Prisons Area Office.
